Dear Fellow Clerks,
Hope this finds all of you enjoying this beautiful spring weather and finally getting back “in the groove” after that amazing conference in Rowan County co-hosted by Carolyn Athey and Kathy Myers. I’ll always have special memories of all the laughter and fun that we shared and the reminder of how silly we looked wandering around blindfolded in a parking lot, from all those great photos contributed from the “camera sharks” that we have in the Clerks Association.
Congratulations go to Gwen Bryan, Brenda Hunter, Andrea Hines and Effie Varitimidis for achieving MMC certification and Kerri Melton, Candace White and Paula Woodard for achieving CMC certifications. For those that did not attend the Conference, your name plates have been mailed and you should receive them very soon.
A big round of applause goes to our most deserving Gwen Bryan, MMC for receiving the 2010 Howard Holly Outstanding Clerk Award. I met Gwen when I became Deputy Clerk and I’ve found that she’s an outstanding woman, mother and friend and to know her is to love her.
I’m excited about attending the Regional meetings because Kathy told me that was the “fun” part of being President and I know that the Program Committee will have an education-filled agenda for each. Please mark your calendars and try to attend these meetings and support the host Clerks who work so hard to make these workshops available for you. It’s also an opportunity to network with fellow Clerks, make new friends and see old friends again!
Western Regional: Burke County, September 24, 2010 (Doris Smith)
Piedmont Regional: Hoke County, October 1, 2010 (Linda Revels/Gainer Cummings, Lumber River COG)
Eastern Regional: Johnston County, October 22, 2010 (Paula Woodard)
I hope to increase membership this year and will welcome any suggestions that you may have. We have a wonderful organization and I’m proud to know and work with all of you. I hope you have a wonderful summer with family and friends and I hope Marcia doesn’t find too many errors in this letter.
Love y’all,
Debby Gore, President
Brunswick County
