UPDATE ON NCDOT "CITY/COUNTY CLERK" LICENSE PLATES

Based on an update from Donna Hosch, the Oxford Town Clerk who originally spearheaded the City/County Clerk License Plate effort, less than 50 applications for personalized license tags have been received. There was opposition by some City Clerks about the title on the proposed plates; therefore, the Municipal Clerk’s Association has established a committee to suggest simplified wording for the license plates. Once this is resolved, new legislation must be proposed and submitted which could take some time. The North Carolina Association of County Clerks will post updates on this project when they are received.
